Rising Literacy Rates in India for Women, is this a problem?

According to the Census of India 2011 the gender gap between males and females have decreased since the last census that was taken in 2001. There are now more women who are literates than men in all of India. Both men and women literates have risen since 2001. This can be attributed to the fact that education for both sexes have risen and are continuing to rise. The report that was published with the Census of India stated, "This trend of rising female literates will have far reaching consequences on the development of society."
What does this mean? How can this reach consequences for society? In order to get women our of poverty, including their children, value needs to be put on women who are achieving their educational and career goals. For both men and women, being literate is overall, beneficial for society.
